Excel 2010 is completely useless on my PC. It is installed as a component of Microsoft Office 2010 Professional.
Jul 03, 2013 Help using VBA to auto generate PDF using PDFMaker aufer Jul 3, 2013 9:49 AM I am using Adobe 9 Pro ( v9.2.0) and would to automate the building of PDFs from Excel. I also have Acrobat 9 installed on my computer. I suspect that the interaction between the two programs is causing Excel to hang. There is no pattern to the hang. It happens when I am creating a new spreadsheet or editing an old one. I use Word extensively and have had no problems. I am also an Access user but have not done much with it of late, so I am not certain if the hang problem is affecting it. I have deleted and reloaded Office twice.
I have run Excel in protected mode. I have disabled addins. Nothing cures the problem.
However, I do not think I have been successful in disabling Acrobat PDFmaker Office com Addin. When I try to delete it as an addin, a popup says that the addin is available for all users, and that I must be signed on as an administrator to delete it.
But I am signed on as an administrator so this is a ridiculous message. My computer is 64 bit. My operating system is Windows 7. I have installed all Windows and Adobe updates.
I have reviewed Event Viewer for errors and found them, but quite frankly I do not have the knowledge to understand the significance of the information provided. I notice that the errors are hangs. I am not a novice using Excel having used this program since it first was offered by Microsoft.
So it is highly unlikely that I am creating the problem. Can anyone help with this problem of disabling or removing the Acrobat addin? I had an issue with Excel 2007 taking a long time to shut down. I disabled the acrobat add-in and now Excel shuts down like it did out of the box (or after the download??:) I don't remember). Here's how to disable the COM add-in on Excel 2007 (it is probably similar in 2010): 1) Click start and type excel in the search box and press CTRL-SHIFT-ENTER to run Excel in Administrator Mode. 2) Click Office Button->Excel Options->Add-Ins.
3) In the Manage drop-down box, select COM Add-ins and click the Go button. 4) Un-check the box next to 'Acrobat PDFMaker Office COM Addin'. 6) Restart Excel. When I shut down Excel, it hung on me so I had to end Excel using the task manager. After I started Excel again, the add-in was disabled and now my Excel doesn't take 10 to 20 seconds to shut down.
